Stephanie Mendoza for Clerk
On the issues
-
Transparency
The people of Evanston deserve to understand how their government works. In our current world, with new issues arising daily and information constantly changing, a clear understanding of the government’s role in our lives is more important than ever.
-
Accessibility
Because the Clerk’s office receives all communications and petitions from the public and conveys that information to the City Council, it is the job of the Clerk to help the people raise their voices and ensure that their voices are heard.
-
Community Outreach
The Clerk’s office acts as a liaison between the community and the city. As Clerk my priority will be to empower people to voice their concerns and help them access [link to your access page] our city government with ease
Why I'm Running
I am running for Clerk because I have seen firsthand the difference that a good government can make in society, and the harm that can be done by a bad government. For the last 6 years I have been fighting to help community members all over Cook County become involved in their local elections. As a campaign manager and field director for many elected officials I have had the pleasure to work in many communities across the Greater Chicago area. In my work with voters, I’ve seen firsthand how information about how our government works helps community members work with elected officials to improve their lives and make their voices heard. I want to use my skills as a community organizer to help every Evanstonian be involved with our local government, and to ensure that our City Council takes our community’s voices into consideration when they make decisions that impact our daily lives.
